This month is Autism Awareness Month. The CDC classifies Autism spectrum Disorder or ASD as a developmental disability impacting social, communication, and behavior. ASD is commonly diagnosed in children, normally 18 months of age but can be diagnosed in younger children. There are many steps in receiving an official diagnosis, as this a doctor needs a child’s developmental and behavioral history. This stresses importance in the younger a child is monitored for developmental milestones and skills the earlier a child with ASD would be able to receive help and a diagnosis earlier in the child’s life.
